Thanks everyone! (can't wait to see your's Vicki!). A couple of the colors (white and light blue DMC 800) don't show up too well in the pic, but
are more visible in person. I love this design, and am wondering what it will look like at the end of it all...it's already amazing to me!

I had to come back for another look, coz I hadn't realised you were doing a specialty stitch one. Silly me. :)

Thanks again ladies! Yep, it's the specialty stitch version, and IIRC there are going to be a total of 24 parts. Big as any Chatelaine mandala I'm
thinking...
it's already over eight inches across! |

Joann, it's a 26"x26" piece of 32ct opalescent lugana. I had to get extenders for my 17" q-snaps! It's reached the size where it's
hard to get at the top, so next part is getting the flip treatment....work the lower half, and flip 180 degrees (upside down) and work the top (which would
then be at the bottom again!)
I also have to flip the chart when I do this. I use a floor stand for my large pieces because I *hate* marks from hoops or other such small area tools. I almost always use a q-snap larger than the finished design, or for very large pieces, I use stretcher bars, to get four-sided tension. Guess I answered more than just your question! Sorry! |

Wow! It`s really beautiful Kathy!! Your material and thread choices are making for a stunning piece. I have never worked on opalescent fabric...is it a rough
texture? Do your threads 'wear' more quickly?

Thanks mj! This is opalescent lugana, which is a tighter weave than other fabrics, not rough, but thicker threads with the sparkle woven in. It doesn't
seem to affect the DMC I'm using, but silks might be a different matter. The opal. lugana does take some getting used to because the holes are harder to
see.
Opalescent linen isn't much different than regular linen to stitch on however. |
